Interim Senior Minister:
Greg Fondell
Greg arrived in January 2025 to serve First Congregational Church Nantucket. He’s a graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. Greg is an ordained minister of the Evangelical Covenant Church. He retired from full-time ministry in 2021 after 42 years of Christian service. Greg pastored churches in Massachusetts, New York, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
Greg and his wife, Kirsten, have been married for forty-one years. Kirsten is a registered nurse who has spent most of her career working in hospital newborn and intensive-care nurseries. They’re blessed by their three children, their spouses, and five grandchildren. Although their roots are in the Midwest, they have a special fondness for Massachusetts. Greg is also a devoted fan of the Celtics, Red Sox, and Patriots.
Greg is delighted to resume his pastoral career with a wonderful congregation in such a beautiful location. In this 300th year, First Congregational Church is preparing for a new minister and a new era. Greg counts it a privilege to walk beside them as they celebrate a remarkable past and anticipate a glorious future.
Music Minister: Jeffrey Cutts, Jr
Jeffrey Cutts has been a member of the First Congregational Church staff since September of 2018, when he accepted the call to serve as Minister of Music, assuming roles of church organist, choir director, music librarian, and a personal, missioned role of composer-in-residence. In addition to his duties at the church, Cutts enjoys a vibrant and creative performing career as a vocalist, keyboardist, and conductor. He is the founder and artistic director of the Nantucket Summer Festival Chorus, an open community choir with a focus on performing major works. He is also music director and a founding member of vocal jazz ensemble, Nantucket Blue, and performs regularly with New York-based choral ensemble, The New Consort, including their historic premiere of Rosśa Crean’s “The Watchtower Psalms,” first performed at the First Congregational Church in Nantucket. Cutts has also been involved as a performer and music director with various theatre companies on island, including On the Isle, The Dreamland Stage Company, and Theatre Workshop of Nantucket.
Office Manager: Connie King
Before relocating to Nantucket, Connie spent 35 years living in the Greater Boston area and grew up in Asia. She has a professional background in mutual fund administration. A central guiding principle in her life is Romans 8:28, which reminds her that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.
At the church, Connie’s responsibilities include work in the areas of office administration, financial coordination, communications, and outreach as well as church space rentals.
Outside her work, Connie enjoys gaining insights into life, reading biographies, appreciating traditional music, and marveling at the beauty of God's creation.
